The little screen on your lanyard.
It clips onto your keys and shows your next lecture, records voice notes and rings your alarms.I made unidex to clip onto a uni lanyard or a set of keys. It shows your next lecture, records voice notes, rings your alarms and works as a name badge. It also has a little Pet that visits your friends' Pets. Hold B and talk to it and it will set a timer or add an event. It sleeps between presses to save power.

Curious? Try it in your browser ↗. It runs the real firmware.
What's on it
A moves to the next thing. B opens it.

A little creature you dress up and name. It knows your name, mentions your next class, and visits your friends' Pets on their unidex.

Agent
Hold B on the home screen and say what you want: a timer, a new event, an app, or what's next. It asks first before it changes a setting, deletes a reminder or turns off every alarm.

Pets that meet
Two unidex, one room. They talk straight to each other over radio, so there's no WiFi or app involved.
Bring two close: Hold B on the Pet to open Meet on both. The dots fill as they get closer.

Write your own apps
Anyone can write apps and plugins for unidex. It's a few lines of Lua in a text editor, and there's nothing to install or compile.
Each app runs in a sandbox with its own memory, its own folder and a time limit. It can't reach your WiFi password, keys or notes. If one breaks, the device says "App error" and goes back to the list.
- Apps
- An app can draw anything, use both buttons like the built-in apps, keep its own files, read the time and battery, and go online if it asks for WiFi. Make a game, a habit tracker or a set of flash cards.
- Plugins
- A plugin adds to one of the built-in apps instead. For now that's Badge, where a plugin draws a badge that changes, like today's date or the moon.
- 1
Write it. Copy a template from the docs, or start in the editor on the tools site.
- 2
Try it. In the browser emulator, or on your own unidex over USB.
- 3
Send it in. Open a pull request. It gets tried in the emulator and read by a person before it goes in the store.

All the code is on GitHub. From your browser you can update unidex, make badges, design your Pet, set up Notes and install apps. Your phone can do most of that too, apart from updating the firmware.
